‘He was quite low’: Mohammad Kaif reveals how Rishabh Pant reacted after not being named in World Cup 2019 squad

Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was initially not named in India’s World Cup squad final 12 months. “We picked up on these issues. So, we spoke to him quite a bit. We informed him – ‘you are quite young, at the age of 20-21, a player just starts his career. You have already made a name for yourself. You have already won the matches for your team.’  

“None of us ever had any doubts that he is not going to be a giant participant, or he is not going to carry out. We have at all times maintained that ‘you are a good player, you will get your chance. Just keep doing what you are doing, keep winning matches like you have been doing every year’. We spoke to him on his psychological ideas,” Kaif stated.

“But he is a class player, there is no doubt on this. You don’t get such players. If he is used correctly, then he can be an asset. He is quite young as well, when he plays for two-three years more, he will become an even better player,” the previous India batsman additional added.

Pant, although, was later referred to as into the staff for the World Cup, with Shankar and Shikhar Dhawan each getting dominated out of the event attributable to accidents.
